Hey, I'm the English Ferri. It's nice to Meet You. 👋
Born to a Kiwi father and a Samoan mother, I’m something of a cookies-and-cream milkshake. It explains why my childhood was divided between two distinctly-sized islands, and, more importantly, why cookies and cream is my favourite flavour.
At some stage I grew up, got a degree, and moved to a third island, Japan, where I spent five years teaching English. My BA in the subject has a ‘First Class Honours’ suffix, which may have helped me get there; and my Diploma in Creative Writing has also proven invaluable – as filler content for my CV.
Back in New Zealand now, I tutor English, proofread reports, and teach Japanese. In total, I've tutored and taught for over ten years. Nowadays, I find myself pondering, as I reflect on those three islands, how to reconcile the phrase ‘home is where the heart is’ when, really, my heart feels rather split – like, I dunno a banana split, maybe? All this ice cream imagery… maybe I just need some dessert. Cookies and cream, specifically.
